Pin Drop - Where is it?

Pin Drop helps you find a place again: your car in the car park, your bike at the station, your beach umbrella, your gym locker, your tent at the festival, the keys you left somewhere.

At the car park, tap "Save here", take a photo of the pillar, type "Level -2, pillar B7" and save. The phone takes your location at that moment and tells you honestly how precise it is: ± 8 m outdoors, much less indoors. When you come back, "Take me there" opens a compass with an arrow and the distance. Once you are there, tap "Found it" and the place leaves the list.

SAVING A PLACE • Eight types: car, bike, motorbike, beach umbrella, locker, tent, keys, other • A photo, taken or from your gallery, kept inside the app • A note with suggestions for each type: level, pillar, row, number • The accuracy always in sight, in numbers and in words • Works without a location too, three floors underground: the photo and the note stay

GETTING BACK • Compass with an arrow and the distance, worked out on the phone, offline • "You're close": near the place, the arrow makes room for the photo • "Open in Maps" hands the point to Apple Maps or Google Maps, only when you tap it • Share the point with anyone you like, with or without the photo

YOUR LOCATION, EXPLAINED Pin Drop uses a library we wrote ourselves, which asks the system for your location only while the app is open: when you save a place and when it guides you back. No background location, no recorded routes, no map inside the app. The point stays in the app's database on your phone and is never sent to us or anyone else; the distance and direction are worked out on the phone.
