About
Sidespan is a local Mid/Side stereo file workspace for iPhone and iPad. Adjust your owned audio, listen to the result, and carry real WAV stems into another editing session.
CENTRE AND SPACE Import a two-channel WAV, AIFF or M4A from Files. Select an interval, then adjust Mid and Side gain independently. Invert Side polarity to swap the stereo sides, set output gain, or use a starting point. The scope plots sampled PCM from the selected mix. See actual sample peak, RMS and L/R correlation.
HEAR THE DIFFERENCE Audition Original, Mix, Mid or Side from rendered audio. Mid and Side solos play centred mono. Scope and measurements summarize the selected range; they are not live meters. Silence or a zero-energy channel has undefined correlation.
STEMS YOU CAN REUSE Export stereo Mix.wav, mono Mid.wav and Side.wav, and an unchanged stereo Reference.wav excerpt. Float32 WAV keeps the source sample rate. Mid and Side reconstruct the Mix with L=Mid+Side, R=Mid-Side. All adjusted stems share the same output and ceiling attenuation.
A processing PDF records gains, range, scope, measurements and source checksum. Measurements.csv contains source/mix summaries. Settings.json holds exact controls. Project.json embeds original source bytes and settings so you can restore the session. Share all eight files as a ZIP, share individual files, or preview the actual PDF.
KEEP YOUR WORK Save up to 12 local source-backed sessions; rename, duplicate and delete them. Restore exported project JSON through Files. Production starts empty; an original synthesized stereo study is optional. iPad has a wide scope and adjacent gain controls.
LIMITS AND PROCESSING Exactly two channels; up to 32MiB original, 120 seconds and 6 million decoded frames; 8-192kHz. WAV, AIFF and M4A must decode on your device. Mid=(L+R)/2 and Side=(L-R)/2. Gains -24 to +12dB; output -24 to 0dB. Default sample ceiling applies common attenuation only when needed to reach -1dBFS. It is not a limiter, compressor, true-peak or LUFS process. Ceiling off can produce samples above 0dBFS. Range boundaries round down to source frames. Listen and check levels in your destination editor.
No microphone/live input, AUv3, automation, voice/instrument separation, mastering assessment or acoustic guarantee. Use only audio you have rights to use.
One upfront purchase. No subscription, account, ads, analytics or developer upload. Source and projects remain on this device unless you choose to share.
