Your Zoo

Your Zoo tells you the story of the animal you are standing in front of. By itself.

No stop numbers to type in, no signs to scan. You walk up to an enclosure, Your Zoo works out from your position and the direction you are facing which enclosure is in front of you, and the story begins. When it is not sure, it says nothing at all. A quiet moment costs you nothing – being told about the wrong animal ruins the visit.

IT IS ALL ALREADY ON YOUR PHONE The stories for all 77 species, the photos, the facts, the path network and the outlines of every enclosure are installed together with the app. No signal needed, no data plan, no hunting for Wi-Fi at the railing. Your Zoo only needs a connection when you check for content updates, and a switch in Settings turns even that off. (Only the Apple Maps image underneath the zoo plan loads from the network. Everything Your Zoo draws itself is there offline.)

77 SPECIES, 31 ENCLOSURES, THREE LANGUAGES Every species has a spoken story of just over a minute, a short profile, its IUCN Red List status and a photo with full credit. German, English and Spanish, switchable inside the app and independent of your iPhone's language.

A NEW SUPER FACT EVERY VISIT Five facts per species, and the app remembers which ones you have already heard. Annual pass holders still get something new on the tenth visit.

YOUR ZOO: YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD, DIGITAL Photograph your card once. Your Zoo reads the QR code, your name, the expiry date and the portrait, and turns them into a digital card you hold up at the turnstile. The QR code is reproduced exactly as printed; one tap shows it full screen at maximum brightness. The photo and the data stay encrypted on your device and can be deleted at any time.

THE ZOO MAP Paths, enclosures, toilets, kiosks and playgrounds from OpenStreetMap, your position as a small explorer figure, and the map turning with you. You can always browse the list of all enclosures yourself and start a story by hand.

LISTEN YOUR WAY Read along with the transcript, set the pace to 0.9x, 1x or 1.2x, and control playback from the lock screen or your headphones. The story keeps running with the phone in your pocket.

NO ACCOUNT, NO TRACKING No sign-up, no advertising identifiers, no analytics kits. Your location is evaluated on the device only, to decide which enclosure you are facing, and never leaves your iPhone.
