Af JOHN RIDGELY COOPER · Sundhed og fitnessDerfor forventer vi det: A thoughtfully crafted golf app that delivers glanceable Apple Watch yardages, hand-drawn course maps and hands-free hole tracking with clear, practical value.
Kort fortalt
Persimmon - Golf Yardages is a golf app for Apple Watch and iPhone that shows a live GPS distance to the middle of the green, updating as the golfer walks. Holes advance automatically, and the app is built with hand-drawn course maps and a choice of drawn or satellite views. Its standout feature is that the yardage is measured, not modeled, and the app says so when GPS has not locked yet.

The number you need, where your eyes already go: a live GPS distance to the middle of the green on your Apple Watch, updating as you walk — and it never asks you to tap anything mid-round.
Persimmon is named for the woods golfers carried when clubs were made by hand. The courses here are made the same way.
ON YOUR WRIST • One glanceable screen: distance to the middle of the green, front and back, the carry over water, and a club suggestion from your own bag. • Holes advance automatically as you walk to the next tee — play 18 without touching the screen. • "Distance to Green" complication: live yardage right on your watch face, plus Smart Stack support. • A workout runs alongside, so the app stays live all round and your round saves to Apple Health as a golf workout.
HOLES DRAWN BY HAND • Official courses are mapped hole by hole by the Persimmon team — greens, fairways, bunkers, water and tree lines, drawn over satellite imagery. • Beside every hole, a strip of dots: sand, water, the green, each level with the thing it measures. One number to reach it, a second to carry it. • Switch between the drawn map and satellite with one tap. Tap anywhere to measure to that spot.
ON YOUR IPHONE • Open the app at the course and it finds the course and the hole you're standing on. • Find any course in seconds — search the directory, browse nearby, or build one from OpenStreetMap by name. It syncs to the watch automatically. • Fix a tee, a green or a par from where you're standing, and share the correction so the next golfer gets it. • A Lock Screen widget with the latest yardage from your live round. • Round history that reads like a heritage scorecard — every round mapped, hole by hole.
HONEST YARDAGE The big number is measured, not modeled: a straight GPS distance to the green's center. Elevation, temperature, and wind appear as separate references you factor by feel — never silently folded into the number. And when GPS hasn't locked yet, the app says so instead of showing a distance it can't back.
NO ADS, NO FUSS No ads and no tracking. You don't need an account to play: every yardage feature works the moment you install. Signing in is optional, and only for golfers who want their rounds sent to Shot Pattern on porchcast.co or who publish course corrections.
Persimmon is part of the Porchcast family of hand-built sports apps.
