Tracker: Trail Recorder is a travel app for iPhone that records routes in the background while the screen is off, logging a point about every 30 feet along with distance, elevation gain and elapsed time. Each track saves as a standard GPX file that can be shared or opened in most mapping apps. It stands out for having no account, no analytics, and no network code, so tracks stay on the phone until the user sends them.

RECORDS THE WHOLE TRIP

A point every 30 feet, in the background, with the screen off and the phone in your pocket. Distance, elevation gain and elapsed time update as you go, and a marker appears each time you pass a whole mile.

Pause at the overlook and the track shows the pause, instead of drawing a straight line across wherever you sat.

EXPORTS AS GPX, NOT AS A SCREENSHOT

Every track saves as a standard GPX file that opens in most popular mapping apps. Send one by email or AirDrop, or reach into the iOS Files app and take it yourself -- the tracks folder is right there.

Play a saved recording back on the map at three speeds, check the position accuracy you were getting, or delete what you no longer need.

NOTHING TO SIGN UP FOR

No account, no sign-in, no subscription. No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising. No third-party SDKs, and no network code at all.

Your tracks stay on your iPhone until you choose to send them somewhere. There is no server here to send them to.
