Aduwell: FITS Flat Inspector

Aduwell helps astrophotographers inspect a folder of flat frames before making calibration masters. Open a folder and see each frame's sampled median signal, clipped sample percentage, center-to-edge illumination ratio, filter, exposure, histogram, and grayscale field preview. Outliers stand out in the frame register.

Set a target median band for your camera and capture setup. Aduwell flags frames below or above that band and frames with more than 0.2% full-scale clipped sample points. Its assessments are inspection aids, not a promise that a frame will calibrate correctly.

Aduwell reads .fit, .fits, and .fts files with a two-dimensional unsigned 16-bit primary image (BITPIX 16, BSCALE 1, BZERO 32768). Other FITS image formats appear with a clear unread reason. Measurements use sampled pixels and an 80 × 60 field preview. The optional built-in sample creates ten real FITS files locally, including dim and clipped examples.
