Par CARLO BINI · VoyagePourquoi nous l'attendons : Its clear face-to-face translation value and thoughtful privacy approach make it a promising travel companion.
En bref
DuoVox translates a face-to-face conversation on one phone, splitting the screen so each person reads their own language with the text turned toward them. It is aimed at travelers and anyone talking with someone who speaks another language. One point that stands out is that the free tier allows two translated messages per day, while a one-time Pro purchase removes the limit.
Résumé par Debuts, d'après la fiche de l'App Store.À propos
DuoVox translates a conversation between two people sitting face to face, with a single phone resting on the table.
The screen splits in half. Each person reads in their own language, and the other person's text is turned the right way: nobody has to hand over the phone or turn the screen.
HOW IT WORKS • Pick a language for each side • Speak: the translation appears right away on the other side • Reply: the conversation flows as if you spoke the same language
MADE FOR iPHONE DUO DuoVox adapts to Closed, Partially open, Open and tent poses, avoiding the hinge and the camera. It also works on iPhone.
FREE • Face-to-face translation • 2 translated messages per day for each person
DUOVOX PRO (one-time purchase, no subscription) • Unlimited translations • Hands-free listening: the app works out who is speaking • People backdrop: the camera shows the two people behind their panels • Translations read aloud
PRIVACY Translation and speech recognition use Apple's systems, on the device wherever possible. Camera video is never saved or sent. No account required.
Available languages are those supported by Apple Translation; some require downloading a language pack the first time.
