About

Mabayui is a small rail shooter in which sound and light build up as you play.

Shapes drift towards you along a rail. Press and trace across them to catch up to eight, then let go to fire. Every shot lands on the beat and adds a note. Catch one and you hear one; catch eight at once and the music swells, the colours spread across the screen and the whole picture starts to warp.

Nothing is loaded from a recording. Every sound is synthesized on the device as you play, from sine waves and filtered noise, and the picture reads the same strength as the music, so what you see and what you hear rise and fall together.

Leave it alone for a few seconds and Mabayui plays itself. Watch and listen, or touch the screen at any moment to take over.

There are four stages, each with its own track and its own picture. Progressive, Hardcore and FullOn are free. Lattice, a stage of dots that join into a glowing grid, is an in-app purchase: buy it once and restore it on your other devices from the menu.

- Press and trace to catch, let go to fire - Every shot on the beat; the music layers up with what you catch - Plays itself when you leave it - Headphones or a speaker are worth it - Three stages free; Lattice is an in-app purchase - Plays offline. No sign-up, no ads, no data collected
