Why we expect it: A clever, well-explained concept with clear shared-room value, careful privacy and photosensitivity notes, and a free entry point for live events and solo play.

About

Sazameki turns every phone in the room into one light show.

Each phone listens to the music itself and finds the beat on the device. When the kick drum hits, the screens around you flash together. Nothing is streamed to keep the beat, so the light never waits for the network.

sazameki (Japanese): the murmur of many voices rising together.

AT A LIVE EVENT Scan the QR code at the venue to join the room. The host chooses the scene and the colours, and every phone in the room follows. Some scenes appear only when a host plays them live.

ON YOUR OWN Play music out loud and watch the picture move with it. Tap the screen to switch scenes and colour palettes, and double-tap for fullscreen. In a quiet room, choose Internal and the app plays its own tones. Ori, Hamon and Kushi are included. Nagare is available as an in-app purchase.

PRIVACY The sound from the microphone is analysed on your device and is never recorded or sent. No account, no sign-in, no tracking.

PLEASE NOTE Sazameki shows flashing light that follows the music, at times close to full white. If you are sensitive to flashing light, take care, and stop if you feel unwell. Play the music through a speaker. Sound in your earphones does not reach the microphone.
