VS Scout

VS Scout is a virtual recce tool for filmmakers, photographers and drone pilots. You can stand anywhere on the planet in photorealistic 3D, look through the camera and lens you'll actually shoot on, and see the light at the exact time you plan to be there.

FRAME IT FOR REAL • Real camera bodies and lenses, from ARRI to DJI, with the correct sensor sizes and fields of view. • Zoom, prime lens sets, T-stop, focus and exposure. • Frame lines and a live HUD showing heading, height and focal length.

LIGHT IT FOR REAL • Accurate sun position for any date, time and place. Type a time or scrub the slider. • Sun path: see the sun's arc across the sky for the day, with hour marks, sunrise and sunset. • Atmosphere, fog, volumetric clouds and moonlight, from golden hour to night. • See where the shadows fall before you arrive.

MOVE LIKE YOU WILL ON THE DAY • Ground, Aerial, Map and AR modes. • Drone-style dual-stick controls (Mode 2), one-finger look and pinch-to-zoom. • AR mode: hold up your iPad or iPhone and use it as a virtual viewfinder. • Camera moves: add keyframes, then preview or record a smooth dolly or drone move. • Works in landscape and portrait on iPhone and iPad.

CAPTURE AND SHARE • Search any address, or drop a pin on the globe. • Save stills and video takes to your Photos library. • Each file carries camera metadata: location, heading, lens and focal length, plus a JSON sidecar for your pipeline. • Build a shot list per project and export it as CSV.

VS SCOUT PRO SUBSCRIPTION VS Scout is free to download. Scouting a location needs VS Scout Pro, £29.99 per month (or your local equivalent), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. If you bought VS Scout before subscriptions, you keep full access.
